Weiler Relay Boards – Legacy Component Reverse Engineering for Heavy Equipment

Client: Weiler Inc.

Expertise: Analog Circuit Design, Reverse Engineering, Legacy Systems Support, Low-Volume Industrial Electronics

Supporting a Heavyweight in American Machinery

Weiler Inc. is a major name in heavy equipment, known for its expansive line of road paving and forestry machinery used by contractors and Cat dealers across the globe. With over 400,000 square feet of manufacturing space and decades of experience building high-performance industrial vehicles, Weiler’s machines are engineered for longevity. But when critical legacy circuit boards started failing and the original component manufacturer had long since gone out of business, Weiler needed a partner they could trust to bring these vital systems back to life.

That’s where SOENCO came in.

Reverse Engineering Legacy Hardware—No Schematics, No Problem

Weiler provided our team with non-functioning units of a large, multi-relay analog control board used in one or more of their commercial vehicles. There were no design files, no schematics, and no bill of materials—just aging boards filled with fuses, connectors, and components that had to be identified manually.

Using a combination of component analysis, circuit tracing, and technical intuition, we fully reverse engineered the boards and produced exact functional replacements that seamlessly integrated into Weiler’s existing machines.

This wasn’t just a proof of concept. These boards had to meet real-world demands: heavy mechanical vibration, exposure to the elements, and constant high-amperage use in the field.

Designed for Rugged Use, Delivered for Real-World Machines

Each board measures roughly the size of a sheet of paper, built with a heavy-duty PCB stackup and loaded with industrial-grade mechanical relays, fuses, and terminal connectors. We matched the performance envelope of the original board exactly—down to every trace—ensuring it behaved identically when installed, with no changes required on the vehicle side.

Our manufacturing process supports low-volume, on-demand runs—perfect for Weiler’s ongoing fleet support needs. Boards are fabricated and assembled in small batches as needed, ensuring efficient cost control and inventory flexibility without sacrificing build quality.

Legacy Equipment, Modern Support

Weiler’s machines are built to last. With SOENCO’s reverse engineering services, the electronic systems that keep those machines running can last just as long. Our work helps extend the lifecycle of specialized heavy equipment, supports the uptime of contractor fleets, and saves OEMs from expensive redesigns or service interruptions.

This project reflects just one example in a long-standing relationship with Weiler Inc.—a partnership rooted in trust, precision, and a shared commitment to long-term reliability.
