Caught Stealing Pro100™

Caught Stealing Pro100 wearable sensor kit and accessories
Project Overview

SOENCO developed the Caught Stealing Pro100™, a connected wearable system designed to measure key performance metrics for baseball catchers and infielders. The system replaces manual stopwatch-based evaluation with sensor-based measurement of pop time, exchange time, throwing velocity, and throwing distance.

The project combined compact wearable sensors, embedded electronics, firmware, wireless connectivity, mechanical packaging, and mobile application integration. The sensors needed to capture rapid athletic movements with millisecond-level timing while remaining lightweight, durable, and practical for use during training and field evaluation.

The resulting system provides athletes and coaches with performance data that can be collected in the field and transmitted wirelessly to a connected mobile application. Player measurements can then be associated with individual profiles for tracking, evaluation, and sharing.

Engineering Challenges

1
High-speed motion measurement
Catching and throwing movements occur within very short time intervals, requiring sensor selection, signal processing, and embedded electronics capable of reliably capturing rapid changes in motion.
2
Wearable sensor integration
Electronic hardware needed to be packaged into compact sensors that could be worn during normal athletic movement without unnecessarily interfering with the player's mechanics or mobility.
3
Embedded data processing
Firmware was required to acquire sensor data, process measurements, coordinate device operation, and calculate performance information from fast, dynamic movements.
4
Wireless connectivity
The wearable devices needed reliable low-power wireless communication for transferring measurement data to the connected mobile application during field use.
5
Field-ready product design
Sensors, electronics, enclosures, and wearable components needed to withstand repeated handling and the physical demands of baseball training while remaining lightweight and portable.
